Arguments Against Global Warming

Despite the fact that according ot most scientists it is completely real, nevertheless, there are some arguments against global warming. In the US, Republicans tend to oppose action against a threat that they regard as unproved, while Democrats tend to support actions that they believe will reduce global warming and its effects through the control of greenhouse gas emissions.

Stephen Schneider is a Professor of Environmental Biology and Global Change and here is what he has to say about the arguments against global warming: Most people say, "A few degrees? So what? If I change my thermostat a few degrees, I'll live fine." ... The point is that one or two degrees is about the experience that we have had in the last 10,000 years, the era of human civilization. There haven't been--globally averaged, we're talking--fluctuations of more than a degree or so. So we're actually getting into uncharted territory from the point of view of the relatively benign climate of the last 10,000 years, if we warm up more than a degree or two."

As per wikipedia.org, the Cato Institute is a libertarian think tank headquartered in Washington, D.C. The Cato Institute is an example of why there are organizations ready to provide arguments against global warming. The idea is that petrol is making billions of money for some people that sit really high in the world order. Those people believe that negative economic effects of potential emission controls (less fuel usage or alternative fuel sources) outweigh the environmental benefits. So that's why organizations like the Cato Institute and different petrol companies are ready to defend their position with some fabricated arguments against global warming, claiming that there is nothing wrong with what's currently happening.

Sceptics think that the increase in temperature is a natural phenomenon, and that if global warming does exist, it's not something to be worried about. Sure, it's all good, a degree or two, that shouldn't be a concern. Melting of the Arctic ice is no big deal is it?! The Arctic ice is about to completely melt in 30 years. Right now it acts like a giant mirror keeping the earth cooler by reflecting about 90% of the sun heat. As the surrounding waters get warmer, the ice will melt even faster. The Arctic Ocean could be ice free in summer by 2050. What arguments could there be against something serious like that?
